I finally gave in and bought a card reader, which completely solved my camera problems (thanks to John for the suggestion!)
So, first things first. The apartment!

Mosquito nets on of the sets of bunk beds in one of the spare bedrooms. There are two bedrooms with two bunk beds in each. (That's eight unused beds!)
